SOTA

Nurturing Creative Citizens for the Future

SOTA’s educational philosophy celebrates creative experimentation, self-expression, and artistic discovery.

Supported by MCCY and MOE, SOTA offers a unique pathway for young artists, to develop their full potential in both arts and academics. Our aim is to nurture artistic learners and cultural leaders who will make a positive impact locally and globally, now and into the future.

Pupil Outcomes

At SOTA, we aim to build our students into the following:

As Artistic & Creative

Learners, the SOTA student:

Approaches learning and creating as intertwined endeavours, working individually and collaboratively

Is motivated by the pleasure of discovery and expression, and the value it contributes to the world

Is equipped with disciplinary knowledge, methods and forms, and flexibly integrates these to better engage with and respond to complexity

Is a reflexive learner, negotiating and adapting “self” amidst a fast-changing “digi-real” world.

Develops the disposition for learning and creating through life

As Cultural Leaders,

the SOTA student:

Is an artist, a community builder, a heritage steward, a creative and more

Bridges creative and artistic excellence by meeting human needs, inspiring others to think, feel and encounter the world with deeper insight and greater empathy

Is equipped to hold space for diversity, uncertainty, and dissonance to challenge preconceptions and enable a wider range of ideas to be explored

Exercises stewardship of the Singapore identity, bridging cultures against evolving geopolitical realities

Principal’s Message

At SOTA, we’re committed to nurturing creative learners who are equipped to navigate the future with confidence. Recent times have shown that we need to do more to inspire students to lean into and make sense of ambiguity, ambivalence and dissonance. By cultivating artistic, creative learners and cultural leaders, it is our hope that SOTA students will engage with real-world complexities with deeper insight and greater empathy.

However, we recognise that we cannot do this alone. Our students need role models, cheerleaders, and mentors. This is why we’re extending this invitation to friends in the arts, culture, and heritage sectors, as well as others in the community. Together, we can amplify our efforts to nurture creative citizens for the future. If you believe in this cause, we invite you to join us on this journey!

The Campus

Located on the fringe of Singapore’s arts and heritage district, SOTA’s purpose-built campus houses a variety of arts facilities and performance spaces.

Designed by WOHA, the SOTA campus embraces the twin objectives of porosity and interaction with the wider arts community on the one hand, and a secure and safe learning environment for students on the other.
