Hamlet

When Prince Hamlet’s father suddenly dies, Hamlet’s uncle, Claudius swiftly marries his mother and takes the throne for himself. Hamlet’s father appears to a grieving Hamlet, as a ghost, telling him that he was murdered by his own brother Claudius, and that he wants Hamlet to avenge his death.

One of Shakespeare’s most masterful and well-loved plays, “Hamlet” is packed with action, suspense and a little comic relief. Our talented Year 5 & 6 IBCP Theatre actors proudly present this freshly abridged version of “Hamlet”, using original text and directed by Sean Tobin.

The civil war in Thebes has ended. Upon the death of two young Kings, Creon ascends the throne, declaring treason on any citizen found burying traitors. Torn between her duty to the memory of her late brother, Polynices, and to that of her country, Antigone wrestles with the multifaceted nature of duty and sacrifice. Adapted and translated by Joanne Poon, new life is breathed into Sophocles’ striking tragedy.
